S Health APK for Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini

We all know that we were left behind with the S Health app in the Galaxy S4 Mini, rumor has it that it is downloadable from Samsung's app store but for now it is only available for US citizens and some European countries.<br />
<br />
I found this APK over at the xda-developers forums originally posted for the Galaxy Note and thought I'd install it, and turns out it works just fine. So I thought I'd share it with you guys.<br />
<br />
<b>What is S Health?</b><br />
S Health is a fitness tracking app by Samsung that was first introduced in their flagship, the Galaxy S4. It's purpose is to track your daily exercise so the app outlines what your daily targets for weight loss should be and stores all the necessary data for later references.<br />

Do not use this procedure for any other device than the GT-I9192 (the dual sim model)!!!<br />
This rooted kernel is for the XXUAMF7 stock ROM and it may or may not work correctly with other stock versions.<br />

This root/recovery was only tested on EURO / AFRICA models of the I9192. Other regions may not be compatible.</blockquote>

Instructions:</h2>
<ol>
<li>Download and extract the root pack. Put the 
"GT-I9192-RootKit-v2.zip" to your device's storage and leave the Odin 
and the rest of the files on your PC.</li>
<li>Power off the phone</li>
<li>Press and hold the home button, power button and volume down button all together. </li>
<li>You should be in download mode.</li>
<li>Connect your phone with the USB cable to your computer</li>
<li>Start the Odin program and be sure that the first thing you do is uncheck the F. Reset Time option in Odin.</li>
<li>Click the PDA button and select the "ROOT_I9192_CWM6_Kernel.tar" file and press the Start button.</li>
<li>Wait for a few seconds, the phone should reboot and you should see a green box in Odin saying PASS.</li>
<li>After the phone reboots, it vibrates, so immediatelly after the 
vibration hold Volume up and Home buttons together to boot into Recovery
 mode.</li>
<li>Once in there, choose to install a zip and locate the "GT-I9192-RootKit-v2.zip" file and choose it.</li>
<li>After it is done, choose to reboot system and your phone should be rooted.</li>

CyanogenMod 10.1 for Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini GT-I9195

Earlier <a href="http://www.s4miniarchive.com/2013/08/cm101-for-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-in.html" target="_blank">we mentioned</a> about recognized developer at xda-developers forums <a href="http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3044346">arco68</a>, who has lately been working on CyanogenMod 10 for the S4 Mini and now there is finally an Alpha Build 1 available.<br />

Manufacturers tend to fill their phones with apps to make them richer but unfortunately, some people find them being in the way and want to get rid of them. In most cases, these apps are called "bloatware".<br />

<b>shayan1103</b> from xda-developers forums has made this neat script that wipes out all of the "unnecessary" apps from the phone, making it super clean. Basically you need to download this zip file, boot into recovery mode and flash it, no need for a rooted phone.<br />
<br />
Advanced users can open up the zip file and modify the updater-script file with a program such as Notepad++ and remove the lines with the apps names they wish to keep.<br />

For now there is not much information on this matter nor an official thread in the xda-developers forums showing progress. Recently just 8 days ago, Arne Coucheron (arco68) posted another screenshot on his Google+ profile showing us CyanogenMod 10.2 which is based off Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.<br />

Turns out the first custom ROM this phone will see is CyanogenMod which is actually not bad at all, in fact, it's something to be really happy about as CyanogenMod is one of the most wanted custom ROMs out there.<br />

Since then, no news were published regarding this matter, but stay tuned as this blog will be up to date with the Galaxy S4 Mini's development.<br />

How to get Developer options on Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini

The developer options menu contains some very useful options for developers to deploy their apps and debug them. You may have already searched everywhere on your phone for the developer options menu, but did you know that by default this menu is hidden in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean?<br />

Enabling the developer options is very easy. In this post I am going to explain to you how to do it on your Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and this also works on any other Android 4.2 based devices.<br />

Instructions:</h2>

<li>Start off by heading into your <b>Settings</b></li>
<li>Go to the <b>More</b> tab which is the last one on the top-right side</li>
<li>In the bottom, you should see the option <b>About device</b> which shows information such as android version, build number, kernel, etc</li>
<li>Go there and where you see Build number, begin to tap on it atleast 7 times (fast) and you should see a small contextual popup telling you "Developer mode has been turned on"</li>
<li>Now go back to the <b>More</b> tab and just above the <b>About device</b> option, you should see <b>Developer options</b></li>

Some of you might have noticed small lag when you have an app or settings menu open and all of a sudden you press the Home button. The reason for that is, because you are running an app in the background which is S Voice. It is set to start up from double pressing the Home button and by disabling that option, you increase the response speed of the button.<br />

How to take screenshots on Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini

Sometimes we are too proud of the way we have setup the style of our homescreens that we just want to share it with a friend or with an online internet community (forum) or, you just want to take screenshots for other purposes.<br />

Taking a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is very simple, and it takes just to press 2 buttons, no downloading of apps is needed, nothing, just the press of 2 buttons and I would also like to point out that the button combination for taking a screenshot on stock Jelly Bean OS is different than in Samsung's modified TouchWiz roms.<br />

Step 1:</h2>
Go to the specific menu, app or whatever you want to take a screenshot of.<br />

<b>Step 2:</b></h2>
Now prepare two of your fingers on the two buttons, one being on the Power/Lock button and the other in the Home button.<br />

Step 3:</h2>
Begin holding the Power/Lock button and immediatelly begin holding the Home button aswell (do not let go of the Power/Lock button). You should hear a shutter sound, an effect on your screen as if a picture was taken, aswell as a notification on your status bar. You may then release both of the buttons and you are done.<br />

The screenshots are then stored into the phone's memory in the directory "/Pictures/Screenshots".<br />

Instructions:</h2>
<ol>
<li>Power off the phone</li>
<li>Press and hold the home button, power button and volume down button all together. </li>
<li>You should be in download mode.</li>
<li>Connect your phone with the USB cable to your computer</li>
<li>Start the Odin program and be sure that the first thing you do is uncheck the F. Reset Time option in Odin.</li>
<li>Slick the PDA button and select the "GT-I9195_MF5_870901_kernel.tar.md5" file and press the Start button.</li>
<li>Wait for a few settings, the phone should reboot and you should see a green box in Odin saying PASS.</li>
<li>After the phone has booted up, power it back off and repeat step 2 and 3.</li>
<li>In the PDA field, this time choose the "recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.3-serranoltexx.tar.md5" file and click on the Start button.</li>
<li>After rebooting, power it back off.</li>
<li>Press and hold the home button, power button and volume <b>up</b> button all together.</li>
<li>Phone will enter in recovery, exit the recovery and you should be asked if you want to root the phone.</li>
<li>Once done, go to the Play Store and download the Superuser app and you're done.</li>
