After so many popular custom roms being ported it's about time we finally got the chance to try out the well known AOKP rom on our Galaxy S4 mini.<br />

AOKP (Android Open Kang Project) is another aftermarket firmware based off AOSP (Android Open Source Project) that offers excellent performance and a decent amount of features. The rom was ported unofficially by xda member <span style="color: #0b5394;"><a href="http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4551757" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><span style="font-style: italic;">Silesh.Nair</span></a> </span>who just recently also gave us the <a href="http://www.s4miniarchive.com/2014/04/resurrection-remix-442-for-galaxy-s4-mini-i9190-i9195.html" target="_blank">Resurrection Remix rom</a>.<br />
<br />
According to some user reviews, the rom appears to be working just fine with the exception of one small bug during the first boot. For some reason, bluetooth would refuse to work unless the phone gets rebooted for the first time while using this rom. Hopefully this will be fixed in the upcoming versions.<br />

This custom rom has a wide combination of features that you will find on the rest of the AOSP roms just like PAC ROM resulting in an awesome combination of performance, customization, power and the most new features, brought directly to your device. Features such as Halo, Active Display, OmniSwitch and many others from other custom roms are all included here. It is based off the stock kernel's source SGH-I257M_NA_JB_Opensource_Update1 but regardless of the SGH-I257M label it manages to function just fine on the GT-I9195 since both are pretty much alike.<br />
<br />
The most notable features of this kernel are some of the gestures such as sweep2sleep, sweep2wake, doubletap2wake and fast charge. Please note that the doubletap2wake feature is still considered experimental and may not work fully as expected.<br />

If you're one of those people who wish to have your phone look exactly the way you want it, including your recovery, then you can now theme your TWRP Recovery with these neat themes.<br />

The rom is based off the latest Android version 4.4.2 KitKat and offers excellent performance, a wide amount of customization options and a pleasant user experience. The custom rom for now is only available for the GT-I9190 and GT-I9195 models of the Galaxy S4 mini. As of now there are only two builds available to download and the rom seems stable enough for daily use.<br />

Last year I shared with you another <a href="http://www.s4miniarchive.com/2013/11/deodexed-rooted-zipalign-rom-for-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">deodexed and pre-rooted stock rom</a> for the GT-I9195 variant. Considering its release date, it is using quite an old firmware build from Samsung. This stock deodexed and pre-rooted firmware is based off ML1 and offers pretty much the same features as the one posted last year, except it is based off a newer firmware build.<br />
